Our Story

Our Brand was established in 2018 but our story began even earlier when our founder came by an unusual skirt made from a blue silk saree in a thrift store in New York. Inspired by that blue skirt many years ago and her own experience working in the apparel industry with exposure to sustainability and business development
"majä- a new story" was born.
Majä, pronounced “Maya” is a familiar name that echoes across cultures and continents. It means “illusion” and we want to demystify the illusion that
up-cycled material cannot be transformed into something new and beautiful. Each of our one of a kind pieces are the result of creativity, meticulous attention to detail, a
“pre loved saree” and a lot of love and hard work courtesy of our passionate team. Majä proves that sustainable, environmentally conscious fashion can still be high quality and high fashion.  We want to do our part towards growing and sharing a passion for creative and sustainable apparel with our growing collection.
